what a gut-busting-ly hilarious show! that the songs had all of the cast singing backup was excellent. familiarity with 80s music makes it all the more entertaining! the performances were all stellar.
"The Bronze Bitch Flies At Noon" and "Dog Tag"
i loved it!

both pieces were wonderful--great stories, great characters...when i saw the promo, i was kinda bummed to see the doggy makeup, because at the preview, the actor wore none. i am very pleased he did it without makeup. somehow, it seemed more real, and worked for me.
the actors were impossible for me to doubt, and it was all over too soon!
Love and a Lion

what an unexpected joy! the characters, music, performances (especially sophia naylor!) were fantastic. the song with the chorus, "here we are, me and you, i like you" has such a memorable melody! an opera is a huge undertaking, but was done exquisitely well.

the cultural references were all dead on for me!
muppets rule! especially robin, sweetums, beaker, camilla...hey, have you thought of using some of miss piggy's broken french?
oh, and, in the paul mccartney piece...you know he's a vegetarian, right..?
Love and Video Games

this show was so close to being great...the performances, especially shannon's, were all memorable. there's some places where the script was a little too forced/cutesy when it didn't need to be. glad i saw it though!
Ars Longa, vita brevis
excellent technique/control, but...

...it seemed unfocused. the variety came off scattered to me. there was some amazingly beautiful dancing happening, but with the shorter pieces (when the stage didn't go to black), the audience was unsure whether to applaud.
i wasn't super wild about the music (other than dave brubeck and grandmaster flash).
the ballroom dance flavored piece was awesome, as was the talented popper. it would've been ultra cool if popping and ballet had been together! all of the other pieces came from ballet...

interesting idea...actors were all 1000% committedâ¦iâm giving a kitty for the effort, butâ¦this didnât do anything for me. some parts were difficult to see due to the buildingâs support beams. after a while, i stopped trying to see.
still, i find myself trying to piece it together. the symbolism of the milk, a milkman, people being born, telling weird childhood stories, competing for attention or acknowledgement, explaining to the audience that lifeâs path is inherently violent (birth, sex, eating meat, death), performing a few approximations of sex, someone seeming dead but is soon revived by milk, the plastic curtains come down and the riot begins. âhungerâ and âenslaveâ are painted in red, thereâs a rabbit and a buck (the shadows of which were the only cause for laughter for me), people competing again, barriers, thenâ¦i escaped through an exit. did everyone die at the end?
iâm planning to ask some more people about this show. the positive reviews already posted are not helpful to me ascertaining whatâs good about this show.
