Funny sometimes, truly touching at others, the only comment I had at the end was, "thank you."

Ms. Vodnoy's performance was compelling with her physical grace, her quick-witted delivery and her well-written script. A very fast-moving and enjoyable hour.

A one-woman show on relationships that fail, from both sides. The script is funny and touching; it feels true. Her performance is stellar: When she's her lithe Jewish main character, she's a feast for the eyes with yoga positions and ballet moves. As other characters, she dons simple costumes and uses lighting cues to have the characters interact. A Shockwave Radio Theater Review.

Alison Vodnoy tells the story of Akiva. She tells her side of seven attempts at relationships (along with visits to her therapist), and then goes back and tells the other person's side of the story.
The show description's mention of lesbians is sensationalist. One of Akiva's relationship tries is with a woman, but it's not treated any differently than the other six.
Halfway through, I thought it was a decent show but nothing special. The second half redeemed it. A very interesting way to delve into the character of Akiva and a reminder that there are always two sides to every story, neither of which is necessarily the wrong or the right one.

The only thing I regret about this show is not seeing it sooner to give it five kitties.
You have only one more chance to see it. GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!

Great show. I (thought I) posted a review of this show three days ago, but it never got up (guess I forgot to hit "submit"). So here we go again. Great show. Great performance. And good insight. The only downfall is that the general subject matter explored is nothing new or surprising. But it's done in a fresh way. You won't be disappointed with this show.

I'm up to 14 shows during the the first 4 days of the Fringe. I have seen 4 that are outstanding and this one that knocked my socks off. It is the top of my list! I made three calls this morning to friends imploring them to catch one of the last two performances. Alison is terrific!

It's shows like this that make me travel from Ohio to Minnesota every year. Shows that are entertaining, but never safe. Where there is a huge chance that the audience may not exactly connect with what the artist wants to get across. Risk that Alison Vodnoy took in her one-woman show. It's physical, emotional, funny, and thoughtful. The show jumped and popped in all the right places.
If you want a show that takes a risk with you, go see this one. There is a chance you might not like it (doubt it), but that's what makes the Minnesota Fringe Festival amazing.

An extraordinary physical and vocal performance in a genre that I'm honestly not in the audience for. The first half was particularly rough going, since it's told from the perspective of an intensely self-involved character agonizing over her relationships; but this is more than paid off by the second half, which is told from the perspective of the various men that she's just described. Cleverly constructed with a few flashes of insight, although relationship dramas are still not really my thing. Full review available at the Twin Cities Daily Planet.
