Different and Memorable

I liked that it was different then what I expected. After I left I wasn't sure how to feel which I think is a good thing. It was the kind of show that left me puzzled but not in a way that I was turned off to it. Looking back I really enjoyed it. It was absurd and said much more then if you just took it for face value. It wrestled with things we all wrestle with. Government, sharing, being humane to one another, coexisting... it took all these topics in stride and the actors did a very good job at balancing all of it out. Liked this show a lot, I don't think this will be a show I will forget any time soon. I'm still thinking about what it was saying and I saw it on the 3rd.

so I was presently suprised.
Saw this with a co-worker who knew a couple of the cast members. I didn't really "get" what the show was about from the blurb, so I was pleasantly suprised by the depth of material hidden behind the superficial silliness of the can of oatmeal. Very wierd, but well handled by the very talented cast of actors.

One of the reasons I enjoy Intermedia so much is for the images companies can project. The imagery, the acting, and the creative brevity of the set were all well-done. If you have an appetite for an absurd setting and appreciate captive environment plays like No Exit, you should consider this Quakeriffic production.
Mmm...oatmeal

Not for everyone, but it's really fun to see Reise's off-kilter outlook on life translated to the stage. Well acted on all counts.
Great Concept

What a great, simple idea! Three men trapped in a cannister of oats confront the social, political, and existential concerns which we all face. At times, I felt that this was executed well, but other times it feels a little like a long improv game gone stale. Still, an enjoyable show overall.
Silly

The show is a bit silly, but enjoyable. The other two men "acted" a little too much for me, but Mark Benzel rocked my socks off! Both he and his character were wonderful.
Fringy Absurdism

A very well acted piece of absurdist theater. Given the lack of standard plot in exchange for thematic exploration, it might not be for everyone. (In the interest of full disclosure, I know one of the actors very well. However, I'm also incredibly picky.)

this show made me giggle, think, and sigh all at the same time. I enjoyed the difference in the characters, and their constant bickering. At points it got a little wordy but the actors pulled it to a place where we could understand it. cal warmed my heart with his innocence, and assured that everything would be okay. this was a well put together show and I really enjoyed it.
'Happy Days' it's not

This show seems to mine some of the same territory as Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" and "Happy Days," which attracted me. Rather than an actor in the latter show stuck in a mound up to her head, these guys can move about, which offers possibly more dramatic potential. The image of three guys dying in a box of oatmeal is a great one, but I found it played a bit too seriously for me to thoroughly discover the inherent humor. One minor bother: one character collapsed just outside the defined perimeter of the box, so that was confusing.
More flavor than expected

The written blurb doesn't come close to describing the show. It contains existential angst, territorial squabbles, macho posturing, fashion foibles, and man's inhumanity to man. Oh yes, and it does take place in a cannister of oats.
Back in the oats

In this neuvo-surrealist play, three men live in a giant bowl of oats. But that's not the point--the point is how they interact with each other, how they deal with their situation, and most importantly, how they deal with the end of their ridiculous situation. They bitch, whine, and backstab, but to what end? What happiness does it all bring them?
Good, yet pointless.

Well acted, moments of amusing dialogue, interesting concept, absolutely no point to it whatsoever. If you're looking for a chance to let your mind relax and not feel emotionally invested in characters, this is the show for you. And let me be very clear, this is NOT the actors' faults. It's the script that's bad.

reams and elections in a box of oatmeal 22 steps wide. Well acted absurdist bickering has some good moments but never really comes together. A Shockwave Radio Theater Review.

This was a nice show with many fun bits - I especially giggled at the duct tape fashion show. Overall, a really pleasant way to start my Saturday of crazy Fringing.
