Fun, Fun, Fun

With great music and some awesome jokes, this cast really gives the audience a fun time. I went on a whim and enjoyed it thoroughly. It took a while for the audience to start laughing as the jokes are dark, but once they started laughing it kept going.

A fun fringe starting point

This cast offers the audaince a very energetic cute time. This is not the strongest musical out there this year, but the cast is very excited to present it and that makes up for a lot faults that the script offer.

What an awesome show.
It's a very interesting plot, and very unique. The actors have so much talent that shines through in this production. 'Dying in Public Places' makes you think and also left some things up to the imagination. Very intriguing. Yet it had us singing all the way home!
Wonderful show!

So Much Potential

This play is maybe two rewrites from brilliant. Dark, funny, occasionally thoughtful, 'Dying in Public Places' has so much going for it that it's something of a shame when it starts to shudder and go off the rails.

The singers are across the board here, with the music drowning some out as their voices fade with exertion (and we were in the second row).

The ideas are darkly alluring, and the need to understand what is going on draws the viewers in. The actors, while not all great singers, are all great actors, and the laughs are plentiful.

But in the end we were left wondering just what point they were trying to make.

Go for the potential, and keep an eye on this team. Another few go arounds and they may be one of the better teams at the Fringe.

Mighty fine shindig.

I can't really think of much to say that hasn't already been said. I definitely loved the continuing relationship between Neil and Benjamin, although their energy and the lunacy behind their motives tends to dwarf that of the other characters, I would think. The songs are fun, and a number of the exchanges are heated and well-written, so overall I should say it's definitely worth the watch.

Fiendishly Clever

I loved the chemistry between the actors. At times it was subtle and low key, and at times a bit over the top, but in that fun way that just makes you want to smile. At times it would start to slow down, but just as I started to notice that it was slowing, someone would break into a fun song that would drag me right back in! This show is a guilty little pleasure that doesn't leave you feeling guilty.

Very entertaining piece with a unique concept. The cast is a dysfunctional assortment of vibrant characters and energetic conflicts, while throwing in a touch of cheekiness with every song broken into. This musical is right in line with my type of humor, and so I found it very much enjoyable, though some of the singing was fairly quiet to the point where I could not discern the words. All in all though, well done, and I will anticipate seeing these actors again in other projects!

Meh.

This show was alright. Not good. By no stretch of the imagination was it good. The plot felt super tired and contrived. It did have a couple nice moments. The masturbation song was actually kind of clever, and the young lad in the yellow(I don't remember his name) was quite funny at times, but other than that the cast was lackluster. Overall the show left me with a feeling of "meh" so I would say skip it.

Nice show. Good singing and some funny/smart lyrics. The acting is a little raw at times and the musicians could use a little more rehearsal but it's great to see young blood in the Fringe. Very entertaining show.

This was an auspicious beginning to my Fringe '08. The company is young and talented. The show is clever, the lyrics are perky, and the characters resemble people I've known. For this show the joy is in the delivery rather than the punch lines. I'm looking forward to seeing future Ambrosiatic endeavors!
