Stage Vs FIlm

Catfight is the stage debut of a veteran film maker. Catfight makes a poor transition from sound stage to the performance stage. It is like the veteran film maker failed to record a rehearsal of the stage performance from the back of the theater. As one in the performance audience it was hard to hear the spoken word. The actors were flat. Save the few actors with some stage performance experience the others were ready for a retake.
I hope cast & crew had fun!

I really hope they did. This show just needs more work. More practice & more work. I saw the same show Curt Lund did & I completely agree with him.
Could we get a program too?
A couple kitties for effort

There were a few fun moments in this show. If the intent was to really play up stereotypes on both sides of the aisle, I say bring on more of the preacher man; he stole every scene he appeared in and was definitely the most effective archetype. Congresswoman Bishop scores pretty high marks too, and honorable mention to the "Jay and Silent Bob" girls and Mr. Bishop. Otherwise we saw lines being delivered but little else. Granted it was a late show with a sparse (and potentially sleepy) audience.
Is there a guitar player in the house who could play from the wings? Somebody's brother or son or neighbor or bridge partner? Or perhaps a CD track?
A Festival of Bahchmannalia

Let's be honest - Rep. Michele Bachmann could be the starting point for an entire festival of political satire. But alas, this author did the dirty deed (as I myself did earlier this year) of writing, directing & acting in his own show. He needed an outside eye. There was comedy, but the punch lines slipped by totally missing the punch. There was absurdity, but there were so many scenes with slow entrances & exits that we wore out. There was double-talk, but it didn't always need to be shouted. Elvis (dreamt or real) looked great but needed to GRAB hold of his character, like many others. I liked having the political opponent's faults pointed out, too. But this show wasn't to be believed, and so loses its sting. (But we can still vote on Nov. 4.)
