Should have gone earlier!

This show was really entertaining. I found myself crying while laughing as well as during more serious times throughout the performance. An exceptional job by Katie Knutson--gotta love her! The two worked the stage well together and melded their stories cohesively. Well done! I only wish I had attended earlier in the Fringe (instead of their last performance) so that I could encourage more people to attend! Looking forward to what you do next year...
Cheers!!

Close, but no hot dog on a stick

This is a touching show that comes close, but misses the mark a little. The stories are touching & nicely acted (both women are clearly very talented), but the writing was thin and could have used a little more "kick". I wanted to be really moved, but a lot of the endings were flat and left me wanting a little more. I wasn't entirely sure how all the stories were related, although it was clear at the end that they were somehow trying to tie them all together . I just wasn't sure they completed the task...

Redemptive

Two storytellers with stories about challenging situations and coping with them. The topics were ready for self-indulgence but neither Katie nor Arianna went there. Though more than once it felt a bit like public catharsis for them. That said, they pulled it off. Worth filling a hole in your schedule.

Together and individually, Katie and Arianna have crafted a confident performance through challenging stories and surprising dance. An engaging and thoughtful show. Only two more performances. Make time for this one.

It felt disjointed.

Katie Knutson's "faggot" story was kind of funny, in that earnest good kid sort of way. Other than that, I was bored.

They had different styles but I didn't find them to be complementary. It was a little jarring transitioning between stories.

Two grrls telling

Katie and Arianna play well off each other. Katie's a known quantity in Minnesota, yet she always manages to bring something fresh to her material. She's one of the featured tellers in this year's Tellabration! concert at Open Book in November, so if you like her work, pick up a save the date card in the lobby! This is Arianna's first visit to the Twin Cities, and I hope we see more of her.

One of my favorite "surprise and delight" features: the dance to "Coin-Operated Boy," which in itself is worth the price of admission.
