darkly comical

Terror levels, cannibalism, geeky goodness, and occasional sexual desperation: the only thing that could make it better is a sympathetic Unabomber - and yes, there he is!

I was prepared for a dark comedy... terror alerts, the unibomber, cannibalism... how could it not be funny?!
What I didn't realize is how slyly clever the script is. Some reviewers found the pace too slow for a farce. I found the pauses to be just right - allowing us enough time to appreciate the layers of humor as the mania built to the climax.
Great Fun!!!

A fun time was had by all. And the Uni running gag was fun.
Bump up the energy

I thought the show had some great ideas. I wanted more out of it, though. I felt that it didn't live up to the potential it has underneath. The show is only 45 minutes long, but a good 10 minutes could have been cut off if there was more energy onstage. The actors seemed to dawdle along instead of taking the script up to "level orange". The situation of the show is such an intense rollar-coaster ride of barbarity and emotions that could be laugh-out-loud hilarious if only the performances were taken to the same level.

It was a good show and very entertaining plot. I thought the uni-bomber character was a lot of fun. The only note I have is that I think the show has a lot of potential to go even farther. It's a farce, don't be afraid to be more melodramatic.

Much too Slow

Maybe it shouldn't have been labeled a farce?
It's much too slow to fit the frenetic pace and staging of a true farce. Some of the pauses on stage were literally long enough that I wondered if the actors had forgotten where they were.
Still, the show is not without redemption. Sarah Duane is absolutely perfect as Gaby and Harriet, and when she made the trek onstage from the wings, we all knew we were in for something great on the way. Also, Alex Higgin-Houser as the unabomber is brilliance. His Alex, on the other hand, fell a little flat, but his much stronger character gets more stage time, so we forgive him. Quentin Kennedy and Naysan Mojgani have the bulk of the action, but neither seem up to the task of taking it. Ultimately, the show is a victim of it's own pacing. Too bad, because there are some VERY, very funny moments.
There There Unibomber...

Maybe this show came too late. The terrorism thing has kind of blown over by now, and to me, the show was a little confusing. Some jokes were funny and the show was entertaining. Overall though, the plot was confusing and the acting was not very good. Not the worst, but also not the best show I've seen.

Loved the show. Dark, smart, and well-paced. High points: great imitation of the famous Unibomber police sketch; witty (and yeah, dark) skewering of the American obsession with killing as a right of passage and a key element of heroism:
"The next thing I knew, there was blood everywhere...at least I think he was a terrorist. God! I feel like a man!"
Yeah, go see it. Go on. Get up out'a your chair.

This clever and entertaining script has a nice awkwardness that captures the uncomfortable feelings associated with terrorism and office life. The play is well-worded, campy, over-the-top, and delightfully sophomoric, making it very enjoyable Fringe fare. I look forward to seeing what else this young company has in mind.

I can't deny that I laughed a few times and I was pretty entertained by the show, but something didn't sit right with me. The show lagged a lot. There were so many spots where actors were on stage just kind of looking around in silence instead of something actually happening. At first, the awkward silences were filled by the actors doing some funny things to make us chuckle, but after a while I just wanted something to happen.
Also, I don't think the point of this show gets across. Is it commenting on how we are either calmed or panicked because of the terror level? That didn't get across since there was an actual terrorist in the show. There was reason to panic. I'm just not sure.
Again, the show was entertaining so see it.

This show breezes by. Fun to watch, funny, and with good performances. The only problem I had is that the last 10 minutes felt a little rushed and didn't quite live up to the promise of the first half hour. Still, certainly check it out.

"Orange" is an entertaining show, definitely. A bit of darker, if not morbid, comedy that poked fun at "The Man" and easily provoked laughs. I consider it an hour of my weekend well spent.

Strong performances from talented cast, an excellent script, and extraordinary directing bring this show to life. Awkward college humour for the 16-25 crowd. Who knows what to expect with a hostage situation on stage but a good time will be had by all!

Orange is delightfully funny with its slightly crude humor. It is well-written and well-acted. The quick escalation to madness in response to the very possible, real life situation of the scene makes the piece all the more entertaining and laugh-out-loud comical. The tempo of the piece is right on. Great job Rachel Teagel, Ben Egerman, cast & crew! I strongly recommend "Orange" to anyone who enjoys comedy and who is comfortable laughing at humor that is perhaps somewhat less than politically correct.

I walked into the show not knowing what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. The jokes were witty and cerebral. Also, Evan really boiled my potato. At just over 40 minutes this was a remarkably engaging, well directed play. A good time was had by all.

It has been a while since I've seen some nice unibomber references. I definitely recommend it for people who enjoy awkwardness and excessive violence of the every day man. Oh, you also have to enjoy fun. And enjoying laughing helps too, because that will happen if you see this show.
