I thought this was a solid play with good actors and entertaining dialouge.

Sometimes we get lucky and a thought provoking, imaginative script triumphs over a small budget.

To me, this show represents everything good about the fringe festival.

If at all possible, you must make time this weekend to catch this show. Even if you live in florida. Comedy and emotion in perfect balance! Brilliant, honest writing! Spectacular performances! Surprising costumes! Plus an ending that will have you flying out of your seat and screaming at the top of your lungs. Ahhh, satisfaction.

Wow, what a weird, in good way show. Some gross humor here so be warned if that sort of thing isnt for you! But if it is along with clever writing and acting then go see this show.

I tell you what, this one was original to the ends of the Earth. It's hard to get the whole grasp until you've seen it, but once you have, look out. Apes and other images will be hard pressed to leave your mind. Especially if you're breezing over the National Geographic Channel, and see how amazingly real the ideas in this movie are, except maybe bringing a bit of macabre to it. Worth checking out.

Kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Well written and the cast was amazing. Loved how the bonobo chimps perfected life and makes us mere humans the actual ape. Titilating.

Need a good date show? Something that will give conversation to a nice romantic dinner with that special someone? Skunkapes the name, and he don't play no games. A very sexy play with more humor and heart then I have seen in a long time. As long as you have the ability to think for yourself, and are not scared of something different, I guarantee you will love this play.I have seen it once, and am going back for seconds.

very entertaining, very funny sometimes quite uncomfortably funny which I think is great. The actors all were engaging and full of energy, and believeable. Well written and well acted, go see it.

Honestly I am not a big theater going individual but I saw this show last night and laughed my ass off. I veiwed it as a cross between Gorilla's in the Mist and The Lion King on shroomies. All the actors put there heart into their characters. The lead female, the only female in the show was pleasant and attention capturing. It is odd, the humor a bit dark, just how I like it. I will be going again, no doubt... And the Skunkape... You have to see this thing to believe it!

Fringe Benefits
by Matthew Stearns

Being an avid online Pioneer Press reader, I was moved to journey across the Wisconsin frontier to the "mini-apple" after ingesting Dominic Papatola's awe inspiring review of "Skunkape Sexkult." In what has become an instant fringe classic this bizarre melding of tech speak, kook evolution, and the absurd will lead one to tears, laughter and an eventual Damascus moment. Everything from rednecks, academics, and the media is skewered in this epic production. And of course there are those "damn dirty apes." A must see.

After hearing the premise, I was so looking forward to seeing the skunkape. I was afraid I was going to be disappointed, but the skunkape was even better than I could have ever hoped for. I was surprised I could feel such sympathy for such a bizarre creature, who had no lines no less. This entire cast has some real gems in it. The story had me on the edge of my seat-I was so tense, but the climax was completely satisfying, rather than just a tease, which I experienced with the other show I saw today. The ending was beautifully sad and frighteningly funny all at once.

Will we achieve salvation by reverting to a more primitive but better way of life? Is the answer to create a race of superhuman bonobo chimp/human cross-breeds? Not if a paraplegic hell-bent on revenge can help it.

The script was well-written and the delivery was exceptional. Sasha Lindquist excelled in the role of Dr. Gottschaldt. And Ken Favell played the part of Dr Gottschaldt's slow, sociopathic care-giver with conviction and energy (which made for some creepy scenes).

The actors played their parts believably, despite the bizarre circumstances. There were no holes. Even the non-speaking skunkape was played well.

The effects were great for a fringe play. I only wish there had been an appropriate amount of blood, fluid and general gore. Of course, they only have just so much time to clean up. Otherwise the make-up was great for the skunkape. And I certainly appreciated the nod to Japanese Noh theater with the Chimp father character.

I was entertained. This one was worth my time.

So much potential material, and they turned it into a melodrama. No bonobos.

Very thought provoking, performance. I enjoyed every moment (went fast)and find myself wondering about it three days later. The actors were top notch in their roles. I loved the exaggerated umbilical cord and the baby. I look forward to hashing this over...

skunkape both brought me into the surreal and real, and it does them both perfectly. There is not one dull moment, and afterwards it dwelled in my mind making me think about humans and apes both alike, and the influence we can have on each other. a must see for anyone who wants to view the world in a new light.

Although probably not for young children or those who are easily offend by things not for children, this was an all time fringe favorite for me. Sexkult presents a mordant critique of neo-romantic, new-age wankery in a madcap, eighth-grade register. I highly recommend catching this Trey Parker comedy/Aeschylean stagecraft Franken-Fringe

The lead actress in this crazy romp is fantastic. The pacing could use some work, but the earnest delivery combined with the hilariously over the top writing made this play a ton of fun. Very on the edge, just what fringe is all about.

I enjoyed this show a lot. It was hilarious! The show was well-written, had a lot of energy, and had outstanding acting. Pretty much every character in the show was compelling, up to and including the cheeseball talk-show host. Go and see this show soon.

This is a vegan espresso cupcake if I ever saw one.
The actors attacked their roles with energy, but the story was really incoherent. I feel like I wasted a precious fringe hour when so much better material is out there.

Not only does this play expand the fringe, the role performances were impeccable all around - and this was the premiere. I was but one of many snickering and shaking siliently with laughter throughout the performance. Go see it!
