Where Egos Dare: The Musical!
Great concept, great cast, great songs by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 5 kitties
4 adults and 2 teens rehearse a production of Romeo and Juliet but break into a total of 21 Broadway show songs from all eras over the course of 50 minutes. The songs are ones we all know the words to and were sung well. The script was tight and fun. And the actor/singers were all fantastic, but my particular favorites were Timm and Abby

My Sinking Ship
Allison always puts out a good show by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 5 kitties
Her roommate stories are way better than mine, and she tells them better. You can't go wrong picking one of her shows

Concord, Virginia: A Southern Town in Stories
Best storytelling at the Fringe by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 5 kitties
He doesn't tell stories; he weaves them piece by piece into a complicated and unexpected fabric of a tumble of thoughts and emotions. If Neofotis returns, don't miss his show

Every Pastie* Tells A Story
Hands down my favorite Fringe performer by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 5 kitties
I start my Fringe schedule every year with whatever show Nancy Donoval is in. She is a fabulous storyteller and a very good writer. I think this year's show is the best so far - funny but with a lot of pathos

Aunt Dicey Channels Moms Mabley
"Moms" rocks by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 5 kitties
Aunt Dicey is throw back your head and belly laugh funny. She is a great storyteller in the Black tradition, like your crazy aunt as the moderator says. This is entertainment!!!!

The Curse of Yig
Riveting material expertly presented by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 5 kitties
Tim Uren is always excellent and he did not let us down. New-comer Amy Schweickhardt met and matched him, giving an excellent performance. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

One of my top five shows this year by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 5 kitties
Great concept, great script, great actors with impeccable timing (except for a few minor Carol Burnett-like smirks in the wrong places). This was hilarious - even more so because the director and cast were playing it so straight as a drama.

Tales ... Of the Expected!
It's Ari Hoptman, what can I say? by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 5 kitties
Oh, and an all-star cast of the best performers in other shows at the Fringe

Slow Jobs: Servicing America for $12 an Hour
Must-see storytelling by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
Laura and Curt are fantastic writers and offer a lively presentation. They have keen observation skills for all our human foibles and make them very funny. I would recommend this show to a friend.

2 Sugars, Room for Cream
Great writing, great comic timing by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
I laughed, I almost cried, I was greatly entertained. A couple of adult women with perfect comic timing become a host of characters we all recognize and maybe even relate to. They even seamlessly worked an on-stage gaff into a funny moment. Each small segment is unique and tells a story in just a few minutes. Sort of Lillie Tomlin does Fringe with props

The Harty Boys in The Case of the Limping Platypus
Theatre candy by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
Fun, full of Minnesota references, good for kids, in fact two or four in show. Madcap

Tragedy of You
Scrimshaw delivers in a new genre by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
Scrimshaw always delivers great entertainment at the Fringe and lately he has been stretching into different formats (children's plays and now improv) and it has been successful. Absolutely loved his deconstruction of the structure of Shakespeare plays. Hilarious and too true.

The Return of LICK!
Campy and hilarious by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
I think they have created a few Fringe phrases that will show up in the oddest places

Stalled: An Elevator Story
Great concept, well written, good actors by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
This show, written by some obviously talented young playwrights, could provide some lessons to other young companies in the Fringe this year. They had one concept that hung together all the way to the end. The characters were memorable and fun. If this was their first script, I definitely want to see more.

Exuberant and fresh by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
I don't know why I liked this show so much, but I did. I will assume the story line held together because it was really hard to hear with the canned music playing in the foreground. Please find either your diaphragms or the joys of mobile mikes. The dancing was much fun and the vignettes were well done. I never did find out what happens at the end of hip-hop but apparently they turned to writing and singing fresh, new show tunes :-)

Two Bowls of Cereal and Some Bacon
Compelling stories; well told by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
My friend and I were debating whether his stories were auto-biographical and decided that since they took place on opposite sides of the country at roughly the same time, they must indeed be stories. This is important because he tells them like he lived them. And if they aren't his personal stories, that is truly impressive

Food Shelf Follies
A show that needed to be done by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
I struggled with this rating because I'm not sure I liked the extra two characters who provided interludes, but the stories she told of her attempt to survive were honest and authentic. They are stories we don't like to hear, but all need to. I enjoyed a lot. Even her political statement at the end was real and honest.

Animal Cracker Genocide
Fresh comedy well delivered by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
Liked how much he interacted with the audience in that very intimate space at Augsburg.

Like a Virgin
Lots of energy and a few good stories by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 4 kitties
He had some funny stories about pre-teen boy angst that were told with exuberance.

Bard Fiction
Great concept, acting - check audio by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 3 kitties
You won't be disappointed if you add this show to your schedule. The concept is great and the cast is very good. If you didn't like Pulp Fiction (or if you wouldn't let your kids watch) this isn't the show for you. Some actors could use more diaphragm - hard to hear sometimes and when doing Elizabethan language, that can be a handicap.

The Most Massive Woman Wins
Raw and powerful by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 3 kitties
This is a great cast who knows how to use the arena space well. They bravely explored topics that most of us would probably prefer not to explore, and did it well

Burning Man and the Reverend Nuge
Entertaining by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 3 kitties
His show was entertaining with some periodic memorable comedic lines. Not sure I'd go twice.

Blue Ribbon Burlesque
Great entertainment by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 3 kitties
Old fashioned burlesque show. A fun time.

Thrower of Light
Not a dance afficionado, but enjoyed it by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 3 kitties
She has a definition "signature" that was unique from my perspective of not being knowledgeable about dance. I enjoyed it, especially the last number. Nothing objectionable for children, but might be too slow moving.

The Nightingale
More singing by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 3 kitties
Loved the singing, but not enuf of it

The Tenth Muse
Draws you in slowly by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 3 kitties
It took me a little bit to warm up to this show. She did a really good job of drawing us in just a little bit at a time. By the end of the show, I was hooked. A good singer-songwriter who shares with you how each song presented itself to her.

Moby Dick Tonight
Reminds me of the time....but I digress by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 2 kitties
Pretty good exposition on first two chapters of Moby Dick. Did I ever tell you about one of my old boyfriends who... But I digress. Again.

Best Little Crackhouse in Philly (...or Crackwhore: The Musical!)
Perky musical about degradation by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 2 kitties
Real, but I prefer to stay away from crackhouses. Happy, perky musical numbers a plus

Thin Mint
Thin Mint is indeed thin by Pat Lindgren
Rating: 2 kitties
Sometimes less is more. There was way too much frenetic stuff happening in this play. Pick one idea and stay with it to the end.
