Two Bowls of Cereal and Some Bacon
powerful tale by brenda atkins
Rating: 5 kitties
mahmoud did a great job of telling his story. it was captivating and inspirational. fantastic job!
Full Frontal: A Tale of Love & Lobotomies
finally! some acting. by brenda atkins
Rating: 5 kitties
i have seen so many one woman, one man, storytelling type shows that finally seeing some stage acting was so refreshing. it was one of the last shows (if not the last) that i'll be seeing for this year's fringe festival. it's always such a treat to end the season on a good note!
Sure to Cure, Dr. Amelia's Medicine Show
great job! by brenda atkins
Rating: 5 kitties
the show was fabulous! sigal pokes fun at the crazy aunt hazel that we all have, while still plunging ahead into deeper issues that we all deal with. it was light but still had a great message.
You /Provoke /Me
totally worth it! by brenda atkins
Rating: 5 kitties
i spontaneously found myself sitting in the audience of this one. i set out to see another show and decided to go to this one instead because it was so interesting. you could just feel emotion radiating from the stage. i had to keep myself still as i wanted to up and joing them!
My Sinking Ship
yeah for allison! by brenda atkins
Rating: 5 kitties
i really enjoyed the show! she has become a must see every year for me. i haven't been let down yet by allison's awesome shows!
Every Pastie* Tells A Story
i was skeptical about the title... by brenda atkins
Rating: 5 kitties
i thought this show was very well presented! it was hilarious, honest, and well worth your 12 dollars and an hour of your life!
The Most Massive Woman Wins
honest and relateable by brenda atkins
Rating: 4 kitties
this show was so worth it! i just sat there wanting to laugh and cry because all of it was so true and terrible at the same time. it sounded like they were writing about my life! life of all women. it was really powerful that they were so beautiful but yet dealt with the same issues i do. that says so much about our society and womens' issues.
a great glimpse of the life of a woman for men to see too!
Slow Jobs: Servicing America for $12 an Hour
had me laughing by brenda atkins
Rating: 4 kitties
this year's show wasn't quite as good as the last. it had some great funny parts and great storytelling but i felt that it was a little rough in transitions. it was still a good show and i enjoyed it.
Crescendo
creative by brenda atkins
Rating: 4 kitties
crescendo was a really interesting piece. i loved the idea behind the style. it's such a novel thought!
i was pretty tired so i had a hard time keeping up with the story that she had written but was able to follow the parts about her life really well and with ease.
i found the microphone distracting as i've been more used to shows without the echo-y sound.
great show! definitely worth your time!
Livelihood
interesting characters by brenda atkins
Rating: 4 kitties
this show had a lot of funny moments. the characters had a clear point of view and their interactions were humorous. i'm not critic but i felt like it started to get a bit too out there towards the end. i didn't really understand the whole police thing. however, i was glad to see some acting and the interview that makes everyone remember their worst interview. good job!
First Lady on Mars
what the heck? by brenda atkins
Rating: 3 kitties
i liked that there was a cast and it had some potential but i spent most of the show trying to figure out what they were talking about. i suppose si-fi isn't really easy to do in an on stage performance, but it's not really a show i would recommend to everyone but it was an entertaining hour.
Tragedy of You
funny bits by brenda atkins
Rating: 3 kitties
overall i thought it was pretty good. improvisation is really hard and he did a good job of it. however, i'm not a huge shakespear fan nor did i really spend much time laughing, but what do i know? everyone else seems to like it!
The Comedy Hypnosis Show
the hypnotized by brenda atkins
Rating: 2 kitties
i hear that the experience of being hypnotized is different for everyone. i felt very relaxed but really felt like i was doing the things she was saying to humor her and the audience. there was a lively crowd with great energy and it was funny in bits but it seemed fake. maybe that's just me though. others said they felt "pretty under." it was a fun experience nonetheless, just not as fabulous as some of the other shows.
