Wonderfully written scenes, skillfully sewn together, well acted and well directed. I'm so glad that I was able to make into the encore performance.

This is a very skillfully presented piece; these sweet and gently written vignettes are well-served by the performances and the direction, especially the quirky and charming performance by Wexler.

Carolyn Pool and Shanan Wexler charm the pants of off everyone in a 3 mile radius in this lovely piece. Comprised of a series of vignettes (and a little music) loosely tied together by coffee, 2 Sugars, Room For Cream manages to be both light and substantive, charming and disarming, and a lovely way to spend an hour on a summer evening.
slice of life

This show seems a little oversold as an outright comedy, when it is a lighter series of vignettes that deliver both laughs and drama. Poole and Wexler are both brilliant playing a variety of characters and in writing the series of sketches pointing out the humor in everyday mundanities.

Instead of going the usual Fringe comedy route - bigger, faster, louder - Shanan and Carolyn (and okay, fine Peter too) have created a show that thrives on small moments. The characters and scenes, even when exaggerated for satirical purposes, remain grounded in reality. This allows the comedy to veer from sweet and insightful to barbed and vicious without ever causing the audience to lurch in their seats. This works largely due to the performers' ability to expertly balance two contradictory ingredients of comedy: familiarity and surprise. Another reviewer said this was a great "how to" show for young performers. I'd like to add it's also a pretty handy refresher course for comedy veterans. Sometimes talent is the best Fringe gimmick of them all... On the other hand, a topless number never hurt anybody's attendance. Just a suggestion.

I will say I enjoyed the show, but the laughs came more as chuckles vs. the big laughs I'm used to from Shanan's other work. A spoonful of comedy with a swirl of drama, and no bitterness.

These actresses are comic wizards. This was a most enjoyable performance and it should be seen by all. Peter Moore keeps the action moving with simple deft staging that accentuates the fine craft of these two women. Carolyn Pool is always a joy to watch as she explores the details within the simplest nooks and crannies of everyday life that are frequently taken for granted. I have appreciated directing her in the past and I equally appreciate watching her as an audience member. Shanan Wexler is just plain hilarious. This is definitely top tier fringe. Go see it.

I was curious to see how well these two excellent local actresses would work together; their styles seemed so different. The answer was, they worked together brilliantly. Great chemistry. I particularly liked the piece with them as sisters after an uncle's funeral, but the whole show was marvellous. Make a reservation to see this one -- it is selling out every show, and deservedly so.

Powerhouse women!

I had never seen these two women perform before Saturday, and now I do not want to miss them ever again. The writing, the acting, the singing, and the energy shared between the two powerfully connected for a wonderful hour of laughter, tears, and audience appreciation. I know those moments plays, those women portrayed (especially the professor...dead on from one who is one), and the relationship truths that tugged at our hearts with humor and pain. Wow, and smokey voices too! My husband and I agreed...this a "must-see" show. Please let us know when and where you next perform. We'll be watching.
A Wonderful Show!

Bravo! Carolyn Pool & Shanan Wexler are excellent in this weave of java fueled vignettes, ranging from a smoky-voiced blues duet to a poignant meltdown triggered by running out of coffee filters. This is a must see show starring two of the Twin Cities best actresses, and they deliver. If I could award more than 5 kitties, this show deserves it.

What a wonderful show. Shannan Wexler & Carolyn Pool are a pair of tart-tongued gals with wit as fry as a good martini. They also, with Peter Moore's assistance, have terrific timing and play off each other as if they had been performing this stuff for years.
If you've ever seen them on stage, you'd expect all this. However, I did not expect that a couple of bits would make tears well in my eyes, and I did not realize that Carolyn and Shannan could sing so well. (Get these women a musical, STAT!) This show is funny, has loads of charm, but go early --- it sold out before the house opened.

This was so fantastic. I swear to God, I had a little tear in my eye, so honored to witness this talent. (And I was not the only one) But, please - don't tease me with only one song. More singing, I want more singing! Five kitties if you sing at lesat one, if not two more songs.

Who is lovelier than Shanan Wexler and Carolyn Pool? The skits that make up this show vascillate between laugh-out-loud hilarious and eyes-welling-up touching. The common thread throughout all of them is sincerity, heart, honesty, vulnerability, and of course, coffee. The genuine affection these women have for each other shines through every moment of this piece, whether they're playing sisters or strangers sharing a park bench. They are classy, complicated, hysterical, beautiful ladies, and I loved the hour I spent with them. Bravo!

Carolyn Pool and Shanan Wexler deliver s thoroughly enjoyable and completely well-rounded performance that delivers laughs, tears, and thought on and off the stage. The title may seem fluffy, but this group has captured just the right amount of depth without pretense or rain on a good parade. It probably won't change your life or anything, but you know, it might. Bravo to the whole team for a great show!

A really well written script. Strong acting and direction. The acting will only get better as the two actors settle in. Some of the sketches brought tears to my eyes. My only bitch would be that the sound system/mix was not up to speed, especially during the singing sketch. Go see this show!

Carolyn and Shanan present a funny and sometimes serious string of vignettes that flow with coffee. From uncomfortable family B.S. to the ridiculousness that is the "Twilight" craze, they charm the audience with their quirky talent.

Smart, sassy, and absolutely hilarious. Carolyn Pool and Shanan Wexler are a comedy dream team. I love funny ladies and these two, with seamless direction from Peter Moore, have created a collection of stories that will keep you laughing and talking all night long. So make sure to grab a cup 'o Joe before you go!

Wexler and Pool are a hoot. They play off each other seamlessly. A bunch of little sketches full of laughs and very barbed satire. And a toast to Peter Moore, too, for some fine direction. Very worthwhile.
Great writing, great comic timing
by Pat Lindgren Follow this reviewer

I laughed, I almost cried, I was greatly entertained. A couple of adult women with perfect comic timing become a host of characters we all recognize and maybe even relate to. They even seamlessly worked an on-stage gaff into a funny moment. Each small segment is unique and tells a story in just a few minutes. Sort of Lillie Tomlin does Fringe with props
SKILLFUL DISPLAY OF TALENT
by Richard Shields Follow this reviewer
Rating 5 kitties
This show is an example of what happens when it all comes together - on stage talent, good material and a understanding of how to stage a production. Pool and Wexler have good timing and know how to delivery their lines. Their material speaks to the audience with humor and you share common events with them. This is a fun show worth your time.
This is also a great show for young performers looking for "how to tips" when it comes to presenting their fringe show.
