Sexy and Funny

Blue Ribbon Burlesque is both funny and sexy. Despite the rather daunting vastness of the Proscenium (when the artform seems to demand a greater intimacy), it felt like everything a burlesque should be.

not up to their best

As usual, Nadine was a great hostess, Sweet Pea moved her butt faster than the speed of sound, and the band really knew how to swing. But overall, it wasn't nearly as good as the last year's "Underpants Show." The comedy wasn't as funny (or as raunchy), and there was a LOT less striptease. Too Minnesota nice!

Funtastic, excellent vocals, love the spoon bridge hats. Sexiest song about the Mississippi you'll ever see. they encourage audience particapation, but need a ringer in the audience (this is Minnesota, after all) to yell "take it off."

With a live band and three-part harmony, this Minneapolis staple was bad ass Burlesque at it's finest. Kudos to Lili's Burlesque to jump in the fringe and widen their audience. If you haven't seen these ladies with pasties and pizzazz, make sure you get out and see them at the BLB. I rate it 4 out of 5.

A little slow at times with blackouts to pick up the disrobings of the "Arteests," but it is as advertised. A sax in the band would be nice. I missed the cigar smoke. I sat in the third row next to another bald man.

Nothing like a little stripping in the afternoon on a Saturday. Overall this is a fantastic show. There are a couple acts that keep me from adding the 5th kittie, but I am now oh so interested in checking out their montly show.

Lili's brings their nightclub act to the stage. The format translation however gets caught somewhere between the laid-back atmosphere of a club and the formality of a proscenium setting. They probably would've benefited from a more intimate venue.

The native girl routine, while well-done and sold as un-PC, probably should've been nixed in favor of something else. Burlesque should be oddball and disturbing at times, but that one was pretty offensive.

Enjoyable and entertaining. All the flash and hype of a burlesque show

Great

I was in complete awe last year. It is still a great high quality, funny, very creative and very entertaining show. It seemed short this year. She did not deflower the young guy up front, that I met in line, that was eager to admit that he was a virgin to the show. He would have been a great one to have something funny happen to. A missed opportunity I think. I look forward to what they come up with next year!

This is the first time I've seen this show so I can not comment on how it compares to last years. Howver, I found it funny, and even a bit sexy. Sort of like a Los Vegas review MN style. I'd give it 4.5 kitties, if I could.

Old fashioned burlesque show. A fun time.

I just wish it was longer! The timing seemed a little awkward, but did not seriously detract from the entertainment factor. Hopefully that will be worked out after a couple of shows.

Nadine was great as MC, but I have to disagree - Sweetpea was great, but the Native American huntress had the better backside by far! (and who was that? I don't see her listed to the left.)

This show is a fast paced production that combines music, comedy and movement. The show encourages audience reaction. If you have seen shows in Vegas like "Jubilee" you will get an idea about what this show is like. The musical numbers are fine and you leave wanting to come back to a future production.

Has its moments, but overall a little "thin" - kinda like diner coffee.

Still a great show

I still loved the show this year. I have massive clothes envy and left with a big smile on my face.

That said, I agree with the review below that last year's show was stronger. I miss Funny Bunny! Also, I think the Ritz was a better venue for the show because, given that it's Minnesota, the audience needs a little liquid courage to get into the full spirit of things so having it at a venue with alcohol allows for that and a more tawdry feel in general. This year also felt a bit rushed (is it possible it was longer last year?). Again though, these are suggestions for the future in terms of venue - the cast was still fabulous in every way.

P.S. I personally loved the glitter udder - brilliant!

Good clean fun ... to a fault

The performers were flawless, but somehow this production lacked the locomotive energy of last year's show. The state fair schtick was funny at first, but after a while it got old. The running joke of Minnesota Wholesome colliding with inner naughtiness had the effect of killing the momentum on too many acts. I would have liked to see naughty win out a little more often. Ultimately, the show seemed a little too cleaned up - all talk and no twirling tassels (until the last act, anyway). And the lady in the cow costume with the sequined udders? That was just plain disturbing.

The best part of the show was the music. The female vocalists were incredible, especially in the numbers where they were all singing together in harmony. Left me wishing the show had a soundtrack album!

Lovely show with lovely ladies and fun vaudeville entertainment. The art of Burlesque is alive and these performers are keeping it in great shape. For me, the singing was the highlight of the show - that and I think I've fallen for Ms Dubois ....

My first burlesque, and it was a lot of fun: Sassy, knowing, funny, and almost-entirely-naked women. Recommended!

Fun and A Little Naughty

My husband loves burlesque and I can't help liking it. This bunch is reliably entertaining. The Minnesota state-fair themed variety show features surprising uses for state fair blue ribbons, a lady cow with sparkly udders, an award winning pie, a great MC and hats that feature the Walker's Spoon Bridge and Cherry. Who could ask for more?

This is a fun show. There is something for everyone, as long as those everyones are adults. There is great singing and dancing, a cool band, and tassels. I wish it was longer than 50 minutes, but that's how Fringe is. But it makes this show feel prematurely cut off.
