Practical information

Show times

All shows are 45 to 60 minutes long. All Fringe shows start—and end—on time.

There is a 30-minute break between performances. Performances begin every evening at 5:30, 7:00, 8:30 and 10:00 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, there are performances at 1:00, 2:30 and 4:00 p.m.; and on Fri., Aug. 12, there’s a 4:00 p.m. show.

Transportation
and parking

Each venue page will give you an idea of how to get around by car, bike, MetroTransit or on foot.

Please include travel time in your plans. Summer is construction season and while we sympathize with getting stuck in traffic, we don’t allow late seating because of it.

Concierge desk

Every day of the festival, you can find the concierge desk in the lobby of Intermedia Arts (2822 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls). Concierge desk services include: Reservations, multi-show pass sales, and lost and found.

Monday–Friday: 4–8 p.m.
Saturday–Sunday: Noon–8 p.m.

What to wear

Fringe is a casual affair: T-shirts and shorts are welcome and encouraged. All Fringe venues are air conditioned but it’s still summer—so come comfortable!

Need help?

At the venues, look for the folks in the volunteer and staff T-shirts. They can help with everything from tickets to pointing you toward the nearest bathroom.

Staff and volunteers are standing by daily to answer any questions in person at the festival concierge desk at Intermedia Arts. They can help you make reservations or sell multi-show passes.

Photography

All photography, including video, is prohibited during all Fringe shows.

Etiquette

Remember to turn off all cell phones and other devices that beep, boop or glow. Even if you turn a phone on silent, the screen can be very bright—so, please, no texting either.

Even if you whisper, your voice will carry in a theater. Please respect the artists and your fellow audience members by saving conversations for the end of the show.

Volunteering

Our 400+ volunteers are a huge part of Fringe—we love them dearly and reward them with free tickets. If you’d like to volunteer, check out Fringe's volunteer page for loads more information.

Accessibility

Minnesota Fringe strives to be accessible to everyone, so we present a line-up of audio described and American Sign Language-interpreted shows.

Get all Fringe’s accessibility information—including the schedules for AD and ASL services at shows.

All venues are accessible for those with mobility impairments. If you need help with accommodations, don’t hesitate to ask.

Minnesota Association of Community Theatres has a recorded schedule available at (612) 332-3888.

Reservation fees are waived for patrons using ASL and AD services.

Fringe Encore

The final performance time of the festival—8:30 p.m. on Sun., Aug. 14—is reserved for each venue’s top-selling show. This is an excellent way to catch a show that’s been sold out or to get a final chance to see one of the festival’s more popular offerings.

Encore slot awards are announced on Sat., Aug. 13 on fringefestival.org.

More Fringes

Minnesota Fringe is a proud leader in the United States Association of Fringe Festivals, a group of 15 Fringes in the U.S. Two shows in this year’s festival are part of the Midwest Fringe Circuit and were selected by lottery to participate in Fringe here and in Chicago, Kansas City and Indianapolis.

Be a Fringe artist!

If you’re interested in producing a show at Minnesota Fringe 2012, our application is available in November (and is due at the end of January). Fringe’s lineup is determined by lottery—no one selects the scripts or the companies, so anyone can participate regardless of background or experience. As long as your show is between 45 and 60 minutes and you can set up in less than ten minutes, you have a shot at being a Fringe producer.
