Phil the Void: Motherbanking Bankholes
Do Not Miss! by je jo
Rating: 5 kitties
This is a great (and very timely) show. Phil's observations are keen, and his delivery is spot on. Fans of Eddie Izzard will like this show (minus the cross dressing, sadly). Smart, topical, biting satire, without feeling mean or bitter. Phil is my new fave!

FLESH
cool creature solos by je jo
Rating: 4 kitties
This show is not for everyone, but for folks who appreciate the subtleties of dance and movement, several of these pieces are sublime. Expect quirky, odd, curious movement; expect abstract, non-linear narratives rather than cute "stories." My personal favorites were Ober's quirky bird-like creature, and Lincoln's sad pony-boy. Also enjoyed Laura Selle Virtucio's piece, which was more kinetic than the others. These are 5 very strong dancers, tho, and a nice opportunity to see their solo work. Finally, i agree with the previous reviewers- please don't apologize for your work. I don't care how long it took to come together, and there's no need to detract from the final product.

The Problem (with) Your Mother's Butt
great fun by je jo
Rating: 4 kitties
I agree with the previous reviewer; "The Problem" was vastly superior to "Your Mother's Butt," but both were enjoyable, clever, quirky, and fun. The energy between Ari and Amy in the first piece was tremendous. The piece was very funny, and i think it's my favorite thing i've seen so far this year. I wanted to like the second piece more than I did. Nathan's delivery was a bit over the top, and detracted from the material. I wanted it to by wryly satirical, but he played it almost slapstick. Not great, but not awful, either. Luckily, the first piece is worth the price of admission.

Your Responsibility for Sex Failure

Ex-Gays
Meh. by je jo
Rating: 2 kitties
Show is very earnest, and has a lot of potential, but in the end it comes across as weirdly amateurish. Staging was odd and awkward, and delivery was pretty uneven. It's heart is in the right place, and there were some truly funny moments, but in the end i was left a bit flat. Sorry guys...
