Ducklings, Rocks, and Squad Cars
Honest. by Justin Spooner
Rating: 5 kitties
You are not going to find a more honest, performance at this years Fringe. Nick Ochs shares an incredible story about his life and hardships growing up in South Minneapolis. Family dysfunction, cancer, loss of loved ones, these are difficult subjects to address but Ochs along with Tom Lloyd and Jeff Shockley craft a performance that approaches these tragedies without sinking into dispair or asking for sympathy. This performance is brave, real things happen. Ochs lays out his story as he knows it and doesn't hold back. However, the real beauty of "Ducklings" is that it doesn't live past tragedy. The very telling of this story feels like a ritual of healing and acceptance.
