Frank Sonntag
Executive Director of the Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts
One of the many reasons I moved to the Twin Cities from New York just a few months ago is because of the depth and breadth of the artistic community here. And there is definitely a segment of the population that likes their art “on the edge” ...of good taste, respectability and accepted disciplines. Fringe feeds this urge by showcasing an incredible variety of talent, most of which exists outside of standard convention. It is a beautiful and provocative happenstance, and it is no surprise to me that there are so many folks here who wholeheartedly embrace the amazing opportunity Fringe brings to the table.
Ballet Amore
I wanna see anything that showcases the “ten of the Twin Cities most talented dancers.” The dance community here is astounding, and this production will have live music—always a plus!
Meat My Package
I mean, c’mon… have you read the description of that?! There won’t be an empty seat in the house. Better hurry!
Minnesota Middle Finger
A snowstorm, Pop Tarts and a dramatic treatment of “Minnesota Nice” ...or lack thereof. This is gonna strike a chord for anyone from here and certainly for those of us recent transplants to this little slice of heaven.
The Abyss
You have to be interested in any dance performance that uses “raw emotion” and “athletic virtuosity” in the description... right?
The Smothers Brothers Grimm
Comedy, death and fairy tales. Enough said.
