House Manager

House Managers are in charge of overseeing the operation of one of Fringe’s venues. Specifically, they act as the point person for participating producers, volunteers and patrons during each performance. They must be comfortable handling cash, making quick decisions, working independently and possess strong leadership skills. House Managers report to the Audience and Volunteer Services Director.

Desired candidates will have a strong interest and experience in theater and theater management. A car is preferable, but not required. Compensation is based on the number of shows worked and includes a stipend and festival staff pass.

Internships

Audience Services Intern

The audience services intern works with the Director of Audience and Volunteer Services to prepare and execute of all front-of-house operations for Minnesota Fringe. Specific duties include: Attending events before Fringe to talk about the festival; organizing supplies and setting up the festival office; compiling and organizing information for outreach programs; and assisting the front-of-house staff as needed during the festival.

Undergraduate student in theater, management or related field; interest in arts or nonprofit management preferred. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to multitask. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience in front-of-house operations (house management, box office, ushering) a plus.

Volunteer Services Intern

The volunteer services intern works with the Director of Audience and Volunteer Services to recruit, train and manage of over 400 volunteers. Specific duties include: Corresponding with volunteers via phone and email; attending various events to recruit volunteers; assisting with training sessions; and scheduling volunteers.

Undergraduate student in theater, communications, management or other related field. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to multitask. Experience with databases and working front-of-house for theater (house managing, box office, ushering) a plus.

Communications Intern

The communications intern works with the Communications Director and Executive Director to coordinate a variety of projects, primarily (1) recruitment, coordination and scheduling of Fringe's photography staff and (2) coordinating and publicizing accessibility for American Sign Language interpretation and audio description of shows at the festival, including organizing and preparing scripts from individual producers for interpretation and translation.

Undergraduate student in communications, journalism, theater or language arts. Interest in arts or nonprofit management preferred. Must have excellent written communications skills and a sharp eye for detail and deadline. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and databases a plus; experience with Adobe Photoshop, photography metadata and Web editing tools a big plus.

Hours per week: ±10 hr/week (variable and flexible throughout the length of the internship)
